When you’re one of the nation’s largest supermarkets, you work with a lot of vendors. The Asda Supplier platform acts as the main portal for Asda to manage its relationship with its fleet of suppliers.
The challenge
The original Asda Supplier website had grown substantially over the years. This resulted in the platform outgrowing its initial design, with substantial amounts of content being powered by an outdated and difficult-to-use system.
Design Junkie was tasked with breathing a new lease of life into the Asda Supplier platform. Asda wanted a new supplier portal that reflected Asda’s values and brand guidelines, while also offering a streamlined and more enjoyable user experience. The new website would also have to meet Asda’s strict security requirements, which included ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 compliance.
UX/UI design
Our team worked closely with Asda’s in-house UX/UI team to create a website that followed brand guidelines and met accessibility best practice. We conducted workshops with Asda colleagues and the design team to research and optimise the user journey, with our findings becoming the foundation of the new website navigation and architecture.
The solution
We developed a bespoke website built on the Drupal CMS platform, offering a fully-featured “page builder” that enabled Asda Supplier’s engagement team to create rich, formatted content easily. This grants the team freedom to create content as they please, without having to worry about technical issues or worrying about following visual brand guidelines, as the CMS takes care of everything.
The new platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which is rock solid and secure, allowing the platform to meet Asda’s security and reliability requirements.
The results
The modernised Asda Supplier platform has been a huge success. Our user-centric design has achieved some remarkable results, including:
500k
Pageviews (April 22 - 23)
80k +
Users per year
